Cantabria contará con un Centro de Datos que generará 1.450 empleos y una inversión de 3.600 millones.

Stoneshield Capital will undertake the largest investment in the history of Cantabria, amounting to 3.6 billion euros, to develop the ‘Altamira Project’, a Technological Campus and Data Center that will be located in the municipalities of Piélagos and Villaescusa and will be operational by the year 2032.
The project, to be carried out through XDC Properties, a subsidiary of Stoneshield Capital, will generate over 1,500 direct jobs in the construction phase and more than 1,450 in the operational phase, with 350 being direct and 1,100 indirect.
The Government of Cantabria will declare this initiative as a Strategic Business Project to streamline administrative procedures, as announced by the president, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, who revealed the «historic» investment on Tuesday at a press conference alongside Stoneshield Capital’s acquisitions manager, Javier Ibáñez, and XDC Properties CEO, Javier Gonzalo.
As emphasized, this infrastructure will position Cantabria as «one of the main hubs in Europe» and will place it «on par with cities like Madrid, Milan, Frankfurt, or London», as the center will be «one of the largest and most advanced» on the continent.
The project will be developed in three phases, with the expectation that construction on the first phase will begin in January 2026.
