Dos incendios forestales activos en Cantabria este viernes: Matienzo y Proaño

Cantabria has woken up this Friday, April 11, with two active forest fires in Matienzo, in the municipality of Ruesga, and another in Proaño, in Campo de Suso, out of the 14 fires that occurred on Thursday.
The Director General of Forests and Biodiversity of the Government of Cantabria, Ángel Serdio, reported this in an audio sent to the media, detailing that a total of 29 forest fire brigades and 20 natural resource agents remain mobilized in 10 of the 13 forest regions of the region.
The weather forecast for the next 36 hours is «very favorable» for the action of arsonists, with strong and very strong south winds and predictions of high and extreme forest fire risk levels, as indicated.
However, it has been pointed out that a change in meteorological conditions is expected from Saturday to Sunday, with the arrival of north and northwest winds that will bring an increase in environmental humidity and abundant precipitation, which will «almost certainly put an end to what we hope will be the last episode of forest fires in Cantabria,» stated the Director General.
