Los acusados de robar en restaurantes de Cantabria aceptan hasta cuatro años y medio de cárcel

The three men accused of robbing hospitality establishments in Hoznayo, Parbayón, and Soto de la Marina in March 2023 have admitted to the crimes and agreed to prison sentences of up to four and a half years on Friday, prior to their scheduled trial at the Provincial Court of Cantabria, which did not take place due to the parties reaching an agreement.
As a result, both the prosecution and defense have agreed to impose four years of imprisonment on all three defendants – who are currently in provisional detention – for the offense of continuous robbery, with an additional six months for two of them for resisting arrest (previously considered assaulting a law enforcement officer before the trial).
Furthermore, the two defendants have been fined 150 euros, with a daily rate of 5 euros for a month, for a minor offense of causing injuries to one of the Guardia Civil officers during the altercation at the time of their arrest. They are also required to compensate the officer with the initially requested amount of 2,042 euros.
Prior to the trial conducted in the First Section of the Provincial Court, the prosecution had sought sentences ranging from six to seven years in prison for the three accused individuals, arguing that they were part of a "criminal structure" and acted in a coordinated manner. The prosecution also believed that they took measures to evade surveillance and used electronic devices to bypass security systems in the establishments they targeted.
The defendants, who are Moldovan nationals and have been assisted by an interpreter, have agreed to the changes made and the new classification of the offenses and sentences requested for them. Therefore, the Court will issue a final judgment based on these terms.
With the public and private prosecution – represented by the Guardia Civil – and both defenses committing not to appeal the judicial decision, the judges have declared the judgment as final.
ENCAPUCHADOS Y CON GUANTES
The robberies took place two years ago, with the accused individuals entering a restaurant in Hoznayo wearing masks and gloves, forcibly breaking the lock and damaging the door. They stole money from the cash machine and the establishment.
Days later, they targeted a bar in Parbayón, also masked and gloved, gaining entry by breaking a glass door and stealing money from a gaming machine and the cash register.
Finally, six days later, they repeated the same modus operandi at a restaurant in Soto de la Marina. After tampering with the locks on two entrance doors, they took money from gaming machines and a tobacco vending machine.
The vehicle used in all the robberies was intercepted by the Guardia Civil as it returned to the residence of the three accused individuals in Revilla de Camargo. Two of them resisted arrest and engaged in physical altercations with the officers, resulting in minor injuries to one of the law enforcement personnel.
