Renfe programa 72 trayectos de autobús por obras en Astillero-Orejo
Renfe will implement a road transport plan for all Cercanías and Media Distancia trains affected by the works being carried out by Adif between Astillero and Orejo, which will interrupt traffic on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11. In total, 72 bus services have been scheduled.
Adif’s works will affect the services of the C-3 line of Cercanías Santander-Liérganes and the Media Distancia services, as indicated by Renfe in a press release.
Therefore, during the works, 60 bus services will be scheduled to ensure the mobility of Cercanías passengers and 12 services for Media Distancia passengers.
Passengers on the C-3 Santander-Liérganes line trains will travel by road between Astillero and Liérganes; and Media Distancia train passengers will travel by road between Astillero and Orejo.
The bus stops providing the service will be displayed at the affected stations and stops, and the schedules can be checked on renfe.com. Additionally, Renfe reminds passengers that bicycles and pets are not allowed on road journeys.
NETWORK IMPROVEMENTS
Adif is working on the duplication of a approximately seven-kilometer section between Astillero and Orejo, on the narrow gauge line connecting Santander with Bilbao, with the aim of expanding the capacity of the Cercanías network in Cantabria.
This project involves building a new track on the section, which is currently single track, and installing signaling systems for the route.
Interlockings (devices that manage signaling and switches, and establish safe itineraries for train movements), train detection and protection systems, and fixed and luminous signaling will be installed, all integrated into the centralized traffic control system (CTC) that allows remote management of the lines.
