Ruiloba logra elaborar el queso fresco más grande de Europa, de 150 kilos

Ruiloba celebrated the VIII Milk Fair this Sunday, where they managed to create the largest fresh cheese in Europe using a total of 500 liters of milk. This resulted in a 150-kilogram fresh cheese that was distributed among the attendees for tasting.

The event, held in the Trasierra neighborhood in honor of the Feast of Santa Eulalia, was a success in terms of participation and was organized by the Town Hall and the Cudaña livestock, in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food.

The event was attended by the regional councilor María Jesús Susinos, who praised the professionalism of the livestock sector in highlighting the importance of a product as vital and genuine as Cantabrian milk. She emphasized that Cantabrian milk is a genetic hallmark of the region, derived from cattle fed with appropriate pastures and forages favored by privileged climatic and landscape conditions.

The councilor congratulated the Cudaña livestock for achieving a historic milestone that capped off an event already established in the fair and market scene. This event decisively promotes dairy farming and acknowledges the work of livestock sector professionals.

The councilor also expressed gratitude to the City Council for continuing this prominent fair that showcases the top-quality raw milk of Cantabria. She highlighted the professional and genuine nature of the livestock farmers, whose family-run operations and unique characteristics enable them to offer products of high quality and international prestige.

During her visit, Susinos was accompanied by the Mayor, Julio Pinna; the heads of the Cudaña livestock, Carolina and Ivón Entrecanales; regional parliamentarians, and members of the municipal corporation, as reported by the Government.

All attendees witnessed the successful participation and public engagement in the fair, which included activities such as a tasting workshop for traditional Cantabrian cheesecakes, milking of cows from the Cudaña livestock, and a children’s activity involving bottle-feeding the calves present in the tent set up for the occasion.

Attendees also enjoyed a market of cheese and dairy products from all over Cantabria, as well as a musical performance by the Danzas de las Lanzas de Ruiloba group, along with inflatables and children’s workshops.

GUINNESS MILKING RECORD

As part of the fair’s activities, a competition of traditional iron cooking pots was held with great participation. The event also featured a demonstration by Cantabrian José María de la Serna, holder of the Guinness World Record for being the fastest person to milk a cow, surpassing the milking machine.

The fair also had a charitable aspect, as the proceeds were donated to a team from Aldaya, a municipality in the Valencian Community affected by a severe storm, which was also present at the celebration.

Representatives from the Real Racing Club were also in attendance, presenting participants with team memorabilia.
