Santander celebra La Pasá con desfile de 800 vacas, mercado y música

Santander will celebrate La Pasá this Saturday, after more than ten years without being celebrated in the city, with a parade involving around 50 livestock farms and about 800 heads of cattle, a local producers market, and musical performances.
Thus, the city will pay tribute to the Cantabrian livestock sector by bringing the rural world to the heart of the capital. An event of «great symbolic, cultural, and rural value» that has not been celebrated in Santander since 2014, as stated by the City Council in a press release.
Organized by the Government of Cantabria, the National Association of Tudanca Breed, and the Santander City Council, the day will feature a local producers market held in Plaza Alfonso XIII from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
There will be more than 20 stands where visitors can find agri-food products such as honey, alciturrianos, corn tortos, blueberries, cheeses, sausages, pastries, vegetables, ice cream, sweets, cider, and meat, as well as artisan products like campanos.
The parade will start at 12:00 p.m. from La Remonta and will pass through Valdecilla, San Fernando, the City Hall, Paseo Pereda, and the Paseo Marítimo, returning through the city’s main artery to the City Hall, then up through San Fernando, Cuatro Caminos, and Valdecilla, completing the route back to La Remonta around 3:00 p.m.
Additionally, the day will be complemented with musical performances in Plaza Porticada, featuring Hermanos Cosío, Puri Díaz y Álvaro, Los Guellos, and Repande.
The City Council has emphasized that La Pasá is a celebration that «requires respect and responsibility towards animals», urging to avoid any actions that could disturb their behavior.
In this regard, alternative routes for vehicles have been planned by the City Council.
