Satisfacción de estudiantes tras primer ejercicio de la PAU 2025

The University Entrance Exam (PAU) 2025, the new Selectivity test, has started smoothly at the University of Cantabria (UC) on Tuesday with the first exercise being the exam of Spanish Language and Literature II, from which students emerged with evident satisfaction.

The UC’s Vice Chancellor for Students, Iñigo Casafont, reported to the press after the completion of the initial exercises of the PAU 2025 at the Faculty of Law of the UC. Nearly 700 Cantabrian students out of a total of 3,074 are taking the test in 14 venues that have been perfectly coordinated, as indicated by Casafont.

After randomly asking students about their experience, Casafont observed that the satisfaction among students exiting the examination hall was clear. He believes that the implementation of the new model, with significantly reduced optional choices, has been appropriate so far.

For this test, students were able to choose between two literary texts for analysis: ‘Chronicle of a Death Foretold’ by Gabriel García Márquez, and ‘The House of Bernarda Alba’ by Federico García Lorca. Alternatively, they could respond to questions about the column ‘Lessons of Hate’ by Fernando Aramburu in El País.

Casafont expressed his gratitude to students who followed the instructions and arrived on time, as well as to the subject coordinators and technical and service personnel. He reassured both families and students that the UC and the regional government are prepared to ensure the smooth continuation of the remaining exercises.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted that the pass rate for Selectivity at UC in previous editions has been over 90%.

Meanwhile, the Education Counselor, Sergio Silva, stated that there have been no reported incidents at the start of the new PAU, indicating that it is progressing normally. He emphasized the significance of the day for the over 3,000 Cantabrian students who are taking the test until Thursday.

Following the Spanish Language and Literature exam, several students mentioned to Europa Press that most of them didn’t have enough time to finish the test, although it was not as difficult as anticipated. One student mentioned feeling nervous initially but found the exam quite straightforward.

Regarding the changes in the exam format, some students noted that they didn’t notice any significant differences. While there might have been slight adjustments in the Literature section, the overall complexity remained similar. Some students expressed a desire for more time to complete the tasks.

Nursing, Chemical Engineering, Maritime Engineering, and Naval Architecture are some of the university courses that some students aspiring to enter are aiming for in this year’s PAU.

Provisional grades will be published on June 13 at 8:00 PM on the UC’s virtual campus. From June 16 to 18, students can request a review of their grades. Once the review process is completed, the final grades will be published on June 25, marking the end of the regular session.

Those who do not pass the PAU in the regular session, wish to improve their grades in specific subjects, or have completed the 2nd year of high school in the extraordinary session, can enroll from June 20 to 23 for the extraordinary session, which will take place from July 1 to 3.
