Un 35% de asistentes de fuera de Cantabria en conciertos de Semana Grande de Santander.

The concerts of the Santander Semana Grande at the Campa de la Magdalena, starting this Friday 18th and running until Sunday 27th with 22 different groups and artists in over 40 hours of music, are expected to bring together around 70,000 people, with 35 percent coming from outside Cantabria, mainly from Madrid, Castilla y León, País Vasco, and Asturias.
This represents an increase of about 10,000 attendees compared to the previous edition, which had two fewer concerts.
This was detailed on Thursday by the manager of Mouro Producciones, Guillermo Vega, during the press conference presenting the festivals of the Semana Grande, held at the concert venue in the campa de la Magdalena, and attended by the general director of Cantur, Inés Mier, and the Tourism Councillor, Francisco Arias.
The Semana Grande concerts include two performances by Joaquín Sabina on his ‘Hola y Adiós’ tour this Friday 18, with all tickets sold out, and on Sunday 20, with 500 still available; the Remember Campa festival on the 22nd, paying tribute to 80s and 90s music with Ramoncín, El Norte, El Pulpo DJ, Maneras de Vivir, and the Remember Queen tribute as the main acts; the Magdalena en Vivo festival, from the 23rd to the 26th of July, featuring Sebastián Yatra, Manuel Carrasco, Edurne, Miguel Bosé, Nil Moliner, and Marlon as headliners, and the eighth edition of Hoky Music on the 27th.
There will be eight nights of concerts with a total budget of over 2.3 million euros.
Based on current sales trends, it is expected that the most popular concerts will be the Remember Campa, the Miguel Bosé concert, which concludes his tour in Spain in Santander, and the Sebastian Yatra concert.
These concerts will take place at the Campa de la Magdalena, «one of the most spectacular venues in Spain,» in an area of over 20,000 square meters, with a stage measuring 48.20 meters by 17 meters, totaling 500 m2.
The setup includes a sound system of 40,000 watts; 150 square meters of screens and over 100 mobile devices; over a kilometer and a half of fencing around the perimeter of the venue, and estimates of selling 15,000 liters of beer, nearly 20,000 water bottles, 35,000 soft drinks, 15,000 hot dogs, and 10,000 bread rolls for sandwiches are some of the figures for these concerts.
The organizer emphasized the impact these concerts have not only on tourism but also on employment, as nearly 200 people from a dozen companies are working on building structures and setting up facilities, with over 360 people working at the venue during the concerts.
Although Vega highlighted that the weather forecast looks «wonderful» for the entire Semana Grande, with only a few drops expected on Friday and Sunday. As a precaution, the organization has put in place measures to deal with rain if necessary, including platforms, additional tents, and the free distribution of raincoats, if needed, to avoid umbrellas in the audience that could inconvenience other attendees.
SABINA CONCERTS
For the Sabina concerts, which have a capacity of around 6,600 people, a grandstand with almost 2,000 seats has been installed — the second largest after the one for the 2006 Davis Cup — as well as chairs for all spectators to be seated.
After the performance by the singer from Jaén, who is already staying in Santander and will be visiting other parts of Cantabria during these days, a one and a half hour ‘after party’ is scheduled at the same Campa de la Magdalena with DJ music, raffles, bar areas, and food trucks.
They will feature a «spectacular setup,» the most complex of all the Campa concerts.
MAGDALENA EN VIVO
For ‘Magdalena en Vivo’, in addition to the headliners, other emerging artists such as Maren, Mafalda Cardenal, Paula Koops, Lucía Gago, or Javi Hierro, almost 4,000 season tickets have been sold to date, with some still available, along with day tickets, so the forecast is for 8,000 to 9,000 attendees each day.
The festival includes a charity concert on the 24th by Nil Moliner, Marlos, and Maren, where funds will be raised for the Cantabria Aid Foundation for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (CADAH); the Cantabrian Association for Mental Health (ASCASAM); the Cantabrian Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities (AMPROS); and Buscando Sonrisas. The goal is to raise 36,000 euros, so the organization is making a special appeal for attendance.
To improve mobility for accessing these concerts, the ‘Better by Bus to the Concert’ program has been launched to promote the use of public transport, with several routes stopping in a dozen municipalities in Cantabria with a round trip ticket priced at 8 euros. This is in addition to the reinforcement of the TUS service during the Semana Grande.
HOKY MUSIC
The Semana Grande concerts will close with the Hoky Music festival, where Jhayco, Omar Courtz, Serko, Carmen de la Fuente, and Simónpcuevas will be the headliners.
In addition to the concerts, the festival includes a complete program aimed especially at young audiences, running from 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., featuring activities such as makeup, graffiti, photo booth, T-shirt design, and other activities.
There is an option to purchase discounted tickets with the Santander Culture Voucher, the same goes for the Remember Campa.
During the presentation, both the director of Cantur and the Tourism Councillor thanked Mouro Producciones for their work in organizing these concerts, which are a «driving force» for tourism in Santander and Cantabria and «one of the highlights» of the Semana Grande, combining top international and national artists.
Additionally, it has been announced, without further details, that there will be an auction of signed posters from these concerts by the participating artists with the aim of raising money for charitable purposes.
