Víctor Reinoso se convierte en alcalde de Cabezón de la Sal tras moción contra Óscar López.

Regionalista Víctor Reinoso becomes new Mayor of Cabezón de la Sal

Regionalist Víctor Reinoso has become the new Mayor of Cabezón de la Sal on Thursday after the motion of censure promoted by PRC and PSOE against the ‘popular’ Óscar López, who had been governing in minority since the beginning of this term, was successful.

The Corporation debated the initiative this morning in a full plenary hall, although the session was broadcasted on a screen outside the Town Hall for the residents who couldn’t enter.

Among the benches of the plenary hall were several representatives of the three parties at a regional level, who witnessed the debate of the motion that went ahead as planned, with the votes in favor of the seven councilors from PRC and PSOE (five and two, respectively) against the rejection of the six from the PP.

The new mayor, who already led the two previous terms, stated that this initiative to remove López from the Mayor’s Office is the result of «months of collaboration,» as was «known by the residents,» towards a Government team that he accused of leaving the municipality in a «unprecedented state of neglect.»

«The residents want a mayor who works, not one who dreams,» Reinoso concluded, although he «extended a hand» to the PP to continue working for the community.

He also mentioned that although residents expected the regionalists and socialists to renew the pact from the two previous terms to govern after the 2023 municipal elections, there was no agreement due to «third parties.» However, he made it clear that «no member of the PRC made a gentlemen’s agreement with the PP» to let them govern.

On his part, López bid farewell to the Mayor’s Office feeling «having given everything» for the municipality and asserting that he is the one who has the support of the residents. «For the people, you are not their mayor,» he told Reinoso.

Furthermore, he assured that the opposition that the ‘popular’ party will present to the new PRC-PSOE Government «will not be even a tenth as tough» as theirs.
