‘Los Zumbaos’ ganan el Gran Premio Ciudad de Santander del Carnaval 2025

The comparsa ‘Los Zumbaos’ has won the Grand Prize Ciudad de Santander of the Carnival 2025, with an award of 1,000 euros.
The City Council has awarded the various prizes of this celebration on Saturday night, in an event held in Plaza Porticada, after the parade that started in Gamazo and where 17 comparsas and around 1,400 people participated. In total, 10,450 euros in prizes have been distributed.
In addition, the Association of Neighbors Miralpuerto has won the Social Commitment award, receiving 600 euros, a novelty in this edition. In second place, Club Atalaya Salesianos (400 euros) and in third place, Los Rakeros (200 euros).
Regarding the costume contest, three prizes have been awarded based on their originality, which have gone to Los Trotaritmos, Asociación en Marcha, and Escuela Tipi, with an economic endowment of 600, 400, and 200 euros, respectively.
Three awards have also been given to the most elaborate costume, with the first prize going to Sixto Obrador (600 euros), the second to Los Expulsados (400 euros), and the third to Los Zumbaos (200 euros).
In the comparsas contest, awarded at the gala, the prizes for the best choreography were, in this order, Los Zumbaos with ‘Espanta-Pájaros’, Los Trotaritmos with ‘Guardianes de Dragones’, and Los Expulsados with ‘Las Gallinas ponedoras’, while in the category of best scenery, the awards went to Basicomparsa: Que nos quiten lo bailao with ‘Pásame el mando’, Colegio Julio Blanco with ‘La Historia Interminable’, and Latin Dance with ‘La fuerza del Zodiaco’.
The prize for the most entertaining comparsa has distinguished Asociación en Marcha, La Pera, and Los Cantabrones.
In each of these categories, three prizes have been awarded with 600, 400, and 200 euros.
Finally, in the contest for the most elaborate vehicle, five prizes have been awarded, with economic endowments ranging from 150 euros for the sixth to 800 euros for the winner. The winners have been: La Pera, Sixto Obrador, Colegio Julio Blanco, Escuela Tipi, and Los Expulsados.
The Councilor for Social Dynamization, Fran Arias, has thanked the comparsas and groups for their «enthusiasm and participation» in the activities organized by the City Council, highlighting «the creativity and originality» of the proposals presented.
CHILDREN’S PARTY AND BURIAL OF THE SARDINE
Likewise, Arias has reminded that this Sunday, the 2nd, will conclude the scheduled events for the Carnival 2025. According to the planned program, the Palacio de Deportes will host from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. inflatables, face painting, and children’s workshops. There will also be the family show ‘Mago de Oz’ with Latin Dance, and a children’s costume parade.
In the afternoon, the inflatables, face painting, and children’s workshops will continue, and at 5:00 p.m., the ‘Burial of La Sardine’ will take place, which will consist of a brief requiem on the stage of the Palacio de Deportes and a funeral procession to Parque de Las Llamas, with the participation of the comparsas dressed in mourning and live music accompanying the procession.
Additionally, as a novelty, this year the Sardine will be dressed as a bather, in a nod to the 30th edition of Baños de Ola, which will take place this coming summer. The day will end with the musical show ‘Lucy Tunes’, as reported by the City Council.
