Carmen González Caballero reemplaza a Gómez de Diego en la Ejecutiva Federal del PSOE
The current Government Delegate in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, has stepped down as a member of the Federal Executive Committee of the PSOE, to be replaced by the Secretary General of the socialist group in Santoña and councilwoman in the Santoña City Council, Carmen González Caballero.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Regional Executive Committee and Vice Secretary General of the PSOE in Santander, a member of the Federal Committee, Ainoa Quiñones, has been appointed to the Federal Lists Committee.
These are two new appointments made in the reshuffle carried out by the socialist party’s Secretary General, Pedro Sánchez, during the Federal Committee meeting held this Saturday in Madrid to «boost» the party’s project.
The Secretary General of the PSOE in Cantabria, Pedro Casares, stated in a press release that «Cantabrian socialism will be perfectly represented at the federal level by two feminist, intelligent, prepared, brave, and determined women.»
«Two young and feminist women who represent the present and future of the PSOE in Cantabria and in whom I have full confidence for their way of being and acting as socialists,» he emphasized.
Casares believes that «a new era is beginning in the PSOE, marked by exemplary behavior and firmness against corruption and also against sexism.»
In his opinion, «these two proposals that we have put forward from the Regional Executive Committee to the Federal Executive Committee are framed in this context because Carmen González and Ainoa Quiñones represent integrity, decency, and personal and political honesty.»
«Being a socialist is a way of life and understanding politics, an exercise in honesty, dedication, and integrity, and a commitment to the values of justice and equality that Carmen and Ainoa perfectly embody,» he said.
In this regard, the leader of the Cantabrian socialists affirmed that the choice of González Caballero to be part of the federal socialist leadership «is a bet on youth, knowledge, and capability because Carmen represents the socialist values we want to project for the future.»
He also stressed that to practice good politics, «one must be a good person,» and González «perfectly embodies that spirit of generosity, dedication to others, and a vocation for public service and activism that she demonstrates every day in her group or as a councilwoman in the Santoña City Council.»
Regarding Quiñones’s appointment to the Federal Lists Committee, Casares highlighted «the full trust placed in her over the years, her unwavering loyalty and commitment to our ideals, and her ability to defend the proposals of the PSOE of Cantabria in Madrid.»
Additionally, Casares explained that «both women come from the school of municipalism, two women who know that the best politics are done on the ground, alongside the people’s problems to provide solutions, understanding the reality of neighborhoods and municipalities to make proposals that improve people’s quality of life.»
He also stated that «the PSOE will emerge stronger and more credible» from this renewal process after the Federal Committee because «socialists are unstoppable when we have a clear direction, which goes through democratic regeneration, transparency, and feminism.»
APPRECIATION TO GÓMEZ DE DIEGO
Finally, the Secretary General of the PSOE in Cantabria thanked Eugenia Gómez de Diego -close to Pablo Zuloaga- for being part of the Federal Executive Committee in recent months. She was appointed at the convention held by the socialists in early December in Seville.
«A colleague with whom I have shared values and a project since the Socialist Youth and who will always have my affection and respect,» he noted.
